The UWA I4.0 ERDi Testlab Powered by AWS is one of six Industry 4.0 Testlabs established under the Australian Industry 4.0 TestLab Network. Each Testlab provides Industry 4.0 innovation support priority industry growth sectors and helps build the awareness, knowledge and skills required to capitalise on technological opportunities presented by Industry 4.0. The ERDi TestLab team is resourced with leading industry 4.0 experts who actively collaborate with and contribute to critical industry 4.0 research and development with Platform I4.0 in Germany.
The I4.0 TestLabs were established to assist in enabling Australian industries to take advantage of industry 4.0 opportunities which are proven to deliver significant productivity and sustainability benefits, not attainable by traditional means. The Labs were identified as a model that could provide insights and education on industry 4.0 during the period where industry 4.0 (i4.0 target is 2030) is still be defined via numerous and long running research and development initiatives being conducted by Platform Industrie 4.0. The Labs achieve this by actively contributing to industry 4.0 R&D and assisting local industry take advantage of proven and mature aspects of i4.0 whilst providing a pathway for contributing to R&D in less mature areas of I4.0.
The UWA I4.0 ERDi Testlab is an open access facility devoted to accelerating the adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies in Australia’s energy and resource sectors through the development and demonstration of Standards-based, secure, interoperable process control, operations management and asset management automation.
