The UWA Industry 4.0 Energy and Minerals Digital Interoperability Testlab (ERDi): Regional Interest

Published 11/2/2019

In a recent interview with Tara de Landgrafft, ABC Rural and Resources reporter, Professor Eric May explained that organisations in or servicing the mining, oil and gas industry would be able to test and develop digital technologies in a new Industry 4.0 Testlab to be built in Perth in the coming months. He said the Testlab would be involved in automation, robotics, and sensor technology validation; an important future requirement for organisations seeking to remain relevant to the resources sector.

The UWA I4.0 ERDi Testlab is one of five Testlabs that will be established at Australian universities in 2019. Each Testlab provides innovation support for SMEs in Australian priority industry growth sectors and builds the skills required to capitalise on technological opportunities presented by Industry 4.0.

The UWA I4.0 ERDi Testlab is a collaboration between The University of Western Australia, the Department of Industry, Innovation and Science, AMIRA International, Enterprise Transformation Partners, and South Metropolitan TAFE.
